Yalo Yalo in Sprockhoevel

Since a lot of people recommended the store to us, we had to test it. The prices there are not cheap, absolutely justified with good food, but the bifteki not only looked burnt, it also tasted so burnt. You could even smell it. We probably won't go there again. Pity!

So I just ordered two Old Timer gyros plates. I don't know if the name says it all, but the meat is dry, the fries are totally soft and mushy and the salad isn't really the real thing either .. Would have loved to give it just one star, but the service was friendly and the food was there quickly .. But still not recommended, especially not for the price ..

The boss was angry - he made us feel that as a customer. We (6 people) went to the Yalo Yalo for the first time yesterday at 5.30 p.m. on a Saturday with the voucher book. We were advised by 3 employees (not exactly friendly) to redeem this book during the week and not on the weekend. Since unfortunately the money is not easy for everyone and we as customers also have to struggle with Corona, we redeemed it for ourselves and told the operators that if it tastes good we will definitely come back. Mind you, the cheapest dish was 7.50! The drinks came very quickly, as did the starter platter. The restaurant was gradually filling up. At 7 p.m. we asked where our food was going. All the other guests who came after us had long since eaten and were about to leave the restaurant. Even the guests who didn't arrive until 6.30 p.m. had already finished their meals a long time ago. We were told about 5 minutes. In the end our meal came after 20 minutes at around 7:20 p.m. Without apology, without anything. We felt really uncomfortable and ripped off. The food was ok, although my mother's liver was still raw and my husband's steak looked more like the sole of a shoe. Unfortunately, we could not tell the waitress about this because everyone left us wrong. Pity! Would definitely have liked to come back without a voucher book. Not far from the restaurant is another Greek who is really highly recommended and is also very customer-friendly.

Edited on 08.08.2020: We visit the Yalo Yalo regularly (e.g. 03.08.2020 & 07.08.2020) and have never been disappointed. We eat the dishes on the menu down and up again. Therefore, I cannot understand some of the reviews. Even delivery service or collection during the corona-related closings resulted in impeccable food. One must bear in mind that food delivered through transport generally differs from freshly served. I have not yet seen any pizza / pasta, etc. that looked exactly as they were fresh from the oven on the table after delivery. And when a restaurant is full, it can take a little longer. You could satisfy your first hunger with the usual starter salad that was served quite quickly and that goes with some meals. There can also be no question of a "greasy" meal (see the pictures of the gyro I uploaded). And one or the other food MUST contain fat, because 1. fat is a flavor carrier and 2. it does not allow the meat to dry out. Unless there is too much fat, but that is not the case with the Yalo Yalo. Furthermore, you should be able to differentiate between oil and fat. We have already experienced other restaurants and the Yalo Yalo is one of the good Greek restaurants. 07.06.2018: It was not the first time we were in the Yalo Yalo restaurant and so far we can only report good things. On 06/06/2018 we visited the restaurant again to end a sunny day pleasantly. After a warm welcome, we took a seat at a free table on the terrace, which has been optically upgraded for some time. In the course of the evening, more and more restaurant visitors joined them, so that when we left the terrace it was very well attended. The interior of the restaurant is now very pleasantly furnished, so that the ambience invites you to linger - also on the terrace. As a starter we ordered a Meze Friends, which my wife and I shared. In terms of taste, the starter brings a part of Greece to the tranquil Sprockhövel. Afterwards we received a starter salad (no photo) with pieces of melon, a delicious honey-mustard vinaigrette and roasted pumpkin seeds. By the way, this salad goes with most main courses. Fresh bread was served with the salad and Meze Friends. Our main courses were Tonosalata and Gyros Only with Patates, the mayonnaise is optional. My wife chose a Riesling drink and I chose an apple spritzer. With the drinks we received an ouzo as a greeting. The tonosalata had just the right consistency, crispy on the outside with a delicious sesame coating and juicy on the inside, and was topped with a spicy honey-mustard sauce. The gyros was well grilled and had a few toasted flavors on it. The mandatory onions were laid out in sufficient quantities and not overloaded. The gyros was very tasty, not dry and seasoned appropriately - not too much and not too little. The prices of this more modern Greek cuisine are moderate and reasonable for the portions and the quality of the food. It should be noted that the plates on which the food is served are not exactly small. The portions are more than adequate, but not the size of a "Greek butcher platter" that is served in one or the other Greek restaurant. Anyone who focuses on quantity is in the wrong restaurant. Here taste comes before quantity. The prices: 1x Meze Friends € 9.90 1x Tonosalata € 16.90 1x Gyros Only € 13.50 with patates and a salad beforehand 1x apple spritzer € 4.20 0.5L 1x apple spritzer € 2.60 0.3L 1x Riesling € 6.80 0.25L 1x Riesling € 3.50 0.1L Total € 57.40 All in all, it was a nice evening with a very tasty meal, friendly restaurant owners who, despite the many visitors to the restaurant, exchanged a word or two with the guests. This is how we imagine hospitality. We would love to come back.

The food is just bad / inedible and at this price just an insolence. You'd rather go to Mc Donalds and get more for your money, and it's faster too. We waited over an hour for the food here, neither the price nor the service in any way.

Nice outside seat, very tasty salmon fillet and really well trained staff.

The meat was too fatty and the portions were very manageable. Eating children and parents at the same time became impossible due to serving the children's plates too early. All in all it was ok, but again it doesn't have to be.

Exquisite dishes (I have never eaten or seen them anywhere else) and very friendly service in a great atmosphere (very cozy despite the street location!).

Ordered because the reviews on Google and Lieferheld were perfect. (5 stars) Ordered and the delivery time was quite good. What followed was a nightmare. We ordered baked gyros with fries and salad. The salad was missing, but the fries were ok. Now on the subject .. Everyone writes that it is the same as restaurant quality. Only the gyros was extremely disgusting, everything was full of fat and had a smell that smells of granny under the arm. So fingers away from the "Old Timer" dish. Probably some reviews are written by the owner himself, since the main course was very disgusting.

It was a poem! We had the grill plate and the fried anchovies delivered. The fish surprised me the most, I will definitely let it come again. But the meat was also a dream. Juicy and great ride.

We also go to Yalo Yalo for a special occasion (Christmas party etc.) with our employees. We were always very well catered for and always enjoy coming here to eat. Best regards!
